Underground Meats Pepperoni and Local Portobello Mushroom Tomato Pie

Underground Meats in Madison makes a fantastic local Farmhouse Peperone.  It’s made from local, heritage breed hogs, then air cured for six weeks.  We’re proud to be able to feature it on this pretty amazing Tomato Pie.

Why local? It supports the local economy, the food is better, fresher, healthier, and you just can’t get anything approaching this quality from any of the large food vendors.  We like knowing where our food comes from.  We’ve been out to the Underground Meats facility and are incredibly impressed with their operation. Like Salvatore’s Tomato Pies, they make it with love.  Of course it costs more, but we think it is worth it.  There aren’t any chemicals in this pepperoni that you can’t pronounce.

That said, we are keeping the original pepperoni around at the original price because we want to keep offering a less expensive option as well.
